Dining Room Refresh with a $60 Thrift Store Table

When I first moved into this home I had very little furniture, so when I got the opportunity to buy a $30 table on FB marketplace I jumped on it! That table taught me sanding and staining with the legs and how to use an Oil Based paint on the tabletop!

That little table served me well for a while, but as I really starting to discover my style I knew it was time to move on from that table to continue to make this home more of what I enjoyed, and I was actually able to donate the table to a charity project in which I was able to help furnish and design an all donation based home for clients of the New Mexico Dream Center which overall had a more youthful vibe so it was the perfect fit!

What I was pinning for inspiration had a lot of heavy dark wood chunky tables but I knew I couldn’t afford the price of a new wood table so I went on the hunt and took my time looking for maybe something similar secondhand.

I just so happened one day at Goodwill to look over and spot a treasure! The bases were upside down, it had a really harsh orange-yellow stain, but just knew it could be a beauty! The best part was this all wood table was only $60! I instantly snagged it and loaded it right up in my car and gave myself the go ahead to move on with a refresh to the dining room.

After tedious hours of sanding and more sanding I was able to get it down to the raw wood and ready for a dark red mahogany stain to get that rich warmth I was going for. Finished it off with a top coat and moved her into the dining room!

Next I knew I wanted a really clean and modern gallery wall look to anchor the wall; I found these 20×20 Black Frames from Amazon and had a custom mat made for 8×8 to add to the frames. Picked a collection of photos from my travels and printed them in a simple black and white to keep a clean look.

Then I added these gorgeous LED rechargeable picture lights from Amazon in black and did an easy DIY Rub and Buff in golden leaf to get the antiqued look!

The final piece to the space was a small splurge on these gorgeous almond cream mid century dining chairs from Wayfair.

For a quick refresh on a budget I couldn’t have been happier!
